New road projects are being planned in Vietnam. Three highways are to be improved in the Mekong Delta while a new expressway will improve transport between Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh Province.
Carrying out the planned improvements to National Highway 91B, National Highway 62 and National Highway 53 will cost an estimated US$306 million. The work will improve both capacity and safety for the these roads, while reducing journey times for drivers. Much of the funding required will be supplied by the World Bank. The work will start in 2023 and is expected to take 48 months to complete.
Meanwhile, building a 50km expressway linking Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh Province will cost $123.7 million. Construction work will commence in 2023 and should take 36 months to finish, with the work being carried out under the PPP model.
