Construction is well underway in Costa Rica for an important new bridge connection. The bridge will span the Quebrada Rivera River in San Jose Province.

The bridge is Section 2A of the US$163 million Circunvalacion Norte project, the Northern Ring Road around capital San Jose. The bridge is being designed with three lanes in either direction and the building of the structure has been split into five portions.

Meanwhile, the ring road around San Jose is around 77% complete in all and is costing some US$163 million to build. The work is being carried out by Estrella and H Sollis.

A significant portion of the financing required for the Northern Ring Road has been supplied by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). Costa Rica’s national road authority, Consejo Nacional de Vialidad (Conavi), is the client for the ring road project.
