New crushing and screening equipment will boost capacity at Monier's quarry in Papua New Guinea. This new package of machinery will enable Papua New Guinean firm Monier to manufacture customised products, without compromising production rates.

Monier is increasing the capacity of its Nebiri quarry in Papua New Guinea to meet long term growth targets. This is being achieved with help from a partnership with 6934 Metso and the upgrade will include the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of a new crushing and screening system. The two companies signed the contract and the US$14.16 million order earlier this year.

For Monier, meeting the standards and specifications of its customers is critical. The company was looking for a supplier that could design a crushing and screening system delivering product quality and high capacity.

The package from Metso Crusher Systems will allow multiple standard products to be produced simultaneously. It also offers the flexibility for Monier to output special products without reducing production rate or quality.

The Nebiri Quarry upgrade is designed for a minimum operating life of 20 years and the installation of the crushing and screening system is the final stage of a project that had been underway for two years. The firm says it has made significant investment in mobile plant and equipment to ensure there are no bottlenecks to restrict production capacity once the new system is installed.

Due for completion in 2014, this crushing and screening system is targeted to produce 350tonnes/hour of quality concrete and asphalt aggregates as well as road base materials.

The total project delivery comprises a primary C125 jaw crusher, a secondary NP1213 impact crusher, an HP200 cone crusher for the tertiary stage and a Barmac B6150 vertical shaft impactor for the final stage of crushing and shaping. The crushing and screening system also includes several high efficiency TS and CVB screens, a scalper, and conveyors. Metso will also supply screening media and dust sealing systems for the screens.

Monier is Papua New Guinea's largest construction materials and building products manufacturer and supplier. Located just outside of Port Moresby in the National Capital District, Monier's Nebiri Quarry currently supplies over 1 million tonnes of quarry materials/year.
