Gabon is working on plans to upgrade road links by providing asphalt surfacing. A feasibility study into the planned surfacing work is being carried out, with funding for this having been supplied by the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC). In all 468km of roads would benefit from being surfaced with asphalt. Three road stretches connecting Gabon with neighbouring Equatorial Guinea and Republic of the Congo have been prioritised for the improvement work. The aim is to help develop trade and transport for Gabon, as well as the region as a whole. The feasibility study is due for completion in 2020. CEMAC will assist Gabon’s Ministry of Public Works in planning the construction work.
