A tunnel currently under construction should help deliver a solution to the endemic traffic congestion problems suffered in Russian capital Moscow. The authorities in Moscow intend to extend the Alabyano-Baltyisky Tunnel along Bolshaya Akademicheskaya Street. This would require building an additional underpass under a railway. Should the plan go ahead, the tunnel would measure 29km in length. The total project is estimated to cost US$2.3 billion. The city plans to complete major work by December 2011.

Implementation of some large-scale investment projects for road building in Russia’s capital Moscow may be significantly delayed A series of major documentation issues are the cause of the problem. These have delayed projects for up to nine tenders on the total sum of US$2.6 billion (95 billion rubles), with anomalies having been found by the Russian Federal Anti-Monopoly Service.
