The laser systems are based on the POLISCAN product family and will be deployed in 12 cites and their regions, including Casablanca, Rabat and Marrakesh. The tender is for fixed speed enforcement, average speed enforcement and the monitoring of traffic light intersections.
The tender last year was part of Morocco’s national strategy for traffic safety, according to
Vitronic said it will install its Compact City Housing that enforces traffic from an elevated position up to 3m in height over two years.
In addition to roadside equipment, Vitronic will supply back-office software for data processing. Captured offences will be processed at the data centre in the capital city Rabat. The new software will be integrated into the customer's existing systems.
As part of the tender win, Vitronic will equip and staff four service locations in the country to cover the demand for on-site services. An initial three-year maintenance agreement is part of the contract, explained Youssef El Hansali, chief executive of Vitronic’s Middle East-North Africa region.
