Mexico’s federal government has granted US$35 million to the government of Baja California Sur state for upgrading the road between Bahía Tortugas to Punta Eugenia.

The agreement with the central government’s Infrastructure and Transport department includes construction of a Santa Cruz Bridge, according to Mexican media. It is popular with tourists especially during North America’s winter months. It is also the least populated of Mexico’s 31 states but one of the largest by area.

Earlier this year, the central government announced it would commit $12.53 billion for improving 8,115km of roads for 2024, targeting 51 specific projects.
