Work is starting on the stretch of Vietnam’s Beltway No 3 that runs through Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). The work is costing an estimated US$3.2 billion and will make a significant improvement in transport for HCMC, helping to cut the chronic congestion in the city.

The HCMC authorities have given approval for the work to commence. This is one of several transport infrastructure improvement works planned for HCMC.

Meanwhile, construction is also commencing on the $3.65 billion project to construct Ring Road 4 around Hanoi. The 113km project includes a 10km connection with the Noi Bai-Ha Long Expressway, as well as the 103km Ring Road 4 itself.

The expressway project will be carried out under the public-private partnership (PPP) investment model.
