A US$2.8 billion highway widening project is commencing in Missouri
Construction work worth US$2.8 billion is commencing to upgrade a 320km stretch of I-70 in Missouri. The project will see the highway to the west of St Louis being widened so that it features three lanes in either direction.
The first part of the project will be for upgrades to the I-70/US-63 intersection at Columbia, followed by upgrades at I-70 and US-54 at Kingdom City. When the work is complete, the highway will be widened between Blue Springs and Wentzville.
The first section of the work is expected to take three years to carry out, with Millstone Weber handling the role of design-build contractor. The full 320km widening work meanwhile will take 7-10 years to complete.
