In China the tender process is being opened for five road projects worth a total of US$2.8 billion. The works are all to be carried out in Anhui Province in Anqing City. This development shows the extent to which the government of China's Anhui Province is investing in developing transport infrastructure.

One project is for an 8km road linking Fengxi village and Luohu bridge. Another is for improvement works to a 1.7km section of the road linking Anqing and Zongyang. A 17.6km connection will also be built in Susong County to the highway linking Anqing and Jiujiang. A new 53km expressway section will link Nanjing and Jiujiang. And a 42km road will link Wangjiang with Haikou.

Meanwhile the widening and upgrade works for the Xiqing District-Jinghai District highway is now to go ahead. The work is costing $459 million. And will see the route being widened from two lanes in either direction to three lanes in either direction along a 27km stretch. The work is expected to take four years to complete.
