A key Russian road project faces delays.
Progress on Russia’s Kemerovo Bypass project was stalled temporarily due to issues with the tender process to select a contractor for a section of the road. One company keen to tender for the work pointed out problems with the bidding documents requiring changes.
As a result, the bidding had to be stopped. The work for the 47km Kemerovo Bypass stretch was expected to cost US$765-768 million. Construction was due to commence by the end of 2021 and take 48 months to complete.
The only contractor to enter the tender for the work was SDS-story and the firm’s bid did meet the required terms. The highway is schedule for completion in late 2027 and will feature two lanes in either direction.
