Construction work for the new Ponte da Integracao that will connect Brazil and Paraguay should be complete in the fourth quarter of 2022. Construction work on the project commenced in 2019 and this will be the second bridge linking Paraguay and Brazil, while a third bridge is also being built at present.

The project is being carried out jointly by the generating company Itaipu Binacional and the Parana State Government. Financing worth US$91.4 million has been provided by company Itaipu Binacional. Meanwhile, management of the project is being carried out by the Parana State Government Roads Department.

Meanwhile, progress is being seen with Paraguay’s Transchaco route. The project is around 80% complete and is costing an estimated $670 million, with the necessary funding being provided by the IADB and CAF.
