New plans for Paraguay border bridge

The authorities in Paraguay are planning a bridge project that will improve connections in its border area with neighbouring Argentina. The project forms part of a US$170 million plan for infrastructure projects in the border area between Argentina and Paraguay. Other works include a new port terminal in Pilar and improvements to the Alberdi-Pilar highway. The majority of the funding will be directed towards work on the Remanso Bridge and the road section that connects with the port of Falcon.

Plans proposed for Paraguayan projects

Plans are moving forward in Paraguay for several key projects. The Costanera II road project will be put out to tender at the end of 2014. The project is likely to cost in the region of $100 million. Also due to go out to tender is the project for a new bridge linking Paraguay with neighbouring Brazil, which is expected to cost some $172 million. Paraguay tender process opening for bids

Paraguay is opening the tender process for construction work on the Alberdi-Pilar road. The tender is being handled by Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC). Work on the 96km route will include surfacing and the project is expected to cost just over US$131 million. Financing is being provided in the form of a loan from Fonplata. The project will include building six bridges measuring a total of 2.3km, as well as installing hard shoulders and drainage along the route. The work will be
