A major new Montenegro highway is planned.

Construction work will commence in 2025 on Montenegro’s new highway linking Herceg Novi and Budva. The work should be complete by 2023 and will include the construction of a bypass for Herceg Novi, keeping through traffic away from the centre of the city.
The project is being overseen by Montenegro’s Transport Ministry. Construction of the new highway will cut journey times between Herceg Novi, Kotor, Niksic and Budva. The new road link will help improve access for tourism, a key issue for the country in helping develop its economy.
