Colombia’s transport network is set to benefit from the completion and opening of key road projects during 2022.

Work on Colombia's important 181km Autopista al Mar 1 project is running slightly ahead of schedule. The highway maintenance and upgrade project features the construction of 39 bridges in total, as well as tunnel construction, with the US$508.6 million work being carried out by the contractors Sacyr, STRABAG and Concay.

Meanwhile, the 254km Autopista al Mar 2 project is worth $492.2 million and requires the construction of 62 bridges and 12 tunnel stretches. This work is being managed by the concession firm that was awarded the contract, Autopistas Uraba. The concession company was established for this project and comprises China Harbour Concessions Company, China Harbour Engineering Company, SP Ingenieros, Unidad de Infraestructura y Construcciones Asociadas, and Termotecnica Coindustrial. Part of this route is already in use.
