Approval has been given to commence construction on two stretches of the highway connecting Moscow with Kazan. The M7 highway is an important route for Russia and improving this route will help trade and transport within the country. Kazan lies on the River Volga, close to the industrial city of Ufa and the border with Kazakhstan. A budget for the work has yet to be announced. Rebuilding this highway will help international trade between Russia and its neighbours. The route will become part of the new highway linking Western Europe with Western China.
