Around one third of the new construction projects planned in Morocco have been delayed due to the pandemic. In all, the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, and Logistics had started work on 988 projects, with one third of these then being stalled.

But with the lockdown measures now being eased, work on these projects is recommencing. In all Morocco has 472 road projects planned, as well as an additional 89 motorway projects.

While private vehicle numbers on the roads were affected by the lockdown measures, freight traffic remained strong on the country’s motorways, as well as on rail. Similarly, traffic through Morocco’s ports has remained healthy, growing 6.4% for the first five months of 2020.
