Reconstruction work is being planned for a key route in Lithuania.
Reconstruction work is being planned for a key route in Lithuania connecting the capital Vilnius with the city of Utena in the north east of the country. Originally constructed in 1985 from concrete, the A14 is not in good condition and is no longer suited to the traffic volumes it has to carry.
The original plan by the Lithuanian Road Administration (LAKD) was for the road to be rebuilt by 2030, but the country's Transport Ministry says that the work is of high priority and should be ready by 2025. To achieve this, the original plans will have to be modified however.
