A key Polish road contract has been awarded to Poland.
The Austrian construction firm STRABAG has been awarded a major highway contract in Poland. The package of works is for an 18.75km section of the A2 highway that connects Siedlce West with Malinowiec.
The contract has a value of € 153 million and the work is scheduled for completion at the end of 2024. Poland’s General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) awarded the contract and the design and build deal will be handled by STRABAG’s Polish subsidiary.
"We are pleased to have been awarded another important section of Poland’s transportation infrastructure network. Currently we are working on 12 expressway and motorway sections in Poland with a total length of more than 161km,” said Thomas Birtel, CEO of STRABAG SE.
STRABAG will build a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction along a new route. Space for a third lane to be added later is being included in the design. The contract also includes building the Siedlce South exit, two rest areas and a service station.
