Croatia road and bridge projects

China Road and Bridges Corporation (CRBC) is the main contractor for Croatia’s Peljeski road and bridge construction project. A number of local firms are in discussions regarding sub-contracts for the project. The link will cost around €264 million to construct. The Croatian firm Brodosplit is in discussions to supply the 70,000tonnes of steel required for the bridge.

Croatia’s public procurement body has rejected complaints by all three international consortia over a winning low tender for the Peljeski bridge. Bids for construction of the four-lane 2.4km bridge were submitted in the middle of last year. The bridge will connect Croatian territory by traversing the Adriatic Sea’s Mali Ston Bay. Croatian media are reporting a dispute between two consortia and that of the China Road and Bridges over the Peljeski bridge project. Croatia’s national roads company Hrvatske Ceste chose China Road and Bridges but the decision is being challenged by a consortium led by the Italian firm Astaldi and one by Turkish CT Ictas.
