The contract to construct a 21km stretch of road and the Meghna bridge in Bangladesh has been awarded to a consortium comprised of Korean companies. The deal is worth US$963 million and will be handled jointly by Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Korea Expressway and Daewoo Engineering & Construction.
Building the road and bridge link is expected to take four years to complete. Korea Expressway will then handle the concession for repair and maintenance for a minimum of 20 years. The feasibility study for the project is being handled by the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development (KIND).
