The project for the 110km road linking Djendjen with El Eulma in Algeria now looks to be facing delays. The project is intended to improve transport to and from the port of Djenden and is expected to cost around US$1.28 billion to complete.

Work commenced in 2014 on the road and was originally intended to be complete in 2017, but has already been subject to delays. The road construction is being carried out jointly by the Italian contractor Rizzani and the Turkish contractors Mapa and Sapta.

Delays with payments have been a cause of some of the delays for the project. At present the work is just 43% complete. How much longer the fresh delays will add to the completion of the project remains to be seen.
