Electric machines from Volvo CE helped to build the World RX track in Hong Kong

The new L120 Electric wheel loader built and maintained the racetrack, which was designed by Volvo CE’s own team of experts using a combination of digital solutions and sustainable machines.

A 23tonne EC230 electric excavator was employed, using the Dig Assist digital solution and an Engcon tiltrotator. Also working to both build and maintain the tracks were two new L120 Electric wheeled loaders.

Part of the track was a replica of a design devised by Volvo CE at its test track in Eskilstuna, Sweden and built to encourage overtaking and a greater spectacle for racegoers. The design of the track has been perfected using build data captured in 3D on Volvo CE’s Dig Assist in-cab machine control application. The data was then programmed into the Volvo CE machines, reducing the build time for the track.
