Komatsu's high reach demolition machines can be specified in various configurations to suit the customer
2300 Komatsu now offers excavators specifically configured for demolition work, with short tail machines featuring a level II Operator Protective Guard (OPG). The demolition excavators PC210 to PC450 have high standard specifications. Heavy duty protection from critical damage comes in the form of 9mm under covers and 15mm side guards, to avoid expensive repairs and protect the residual value of the machine. These excavators feature a roll-over protection cab. A top and front guard provide protection from loose material falling from heights and a laminated glass roof window. Two additional hydraulic circuits allow the use of rotating demolition grabs and crushers or a standard excavation bucket. A hydraulic quick coupler lets attachments be changed quickly. Recent upgrades include an opening front guard, an optional cylinder guard to protect against damage from falling debris and a reinforced side link.
The High Reach front end is installed in a special product build area, parallel to the production line. Komatsu can offer a high reach solution from PC240 up to PC800. These are fitted with a two or three section boom. A hydraulic quick change pin system that lets the HRD machines be quickly reconfigured to a digging configuration. The Dash 8 High Reach excavators have larger boom raise cylinders than standard, while the revolving frame was developed specifically for HRD machines and limits stress so the machine can handle extra weight. The cab tilts and, as an option, the hydraulic undercarriage can be adjustable.
