Within the next two years, Hong Kong plans to deploy a new pollution detection system based on ultraviolet and infrared sensors to measure carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbon concentrations in exhaust fumes from LPG and petrol-powered vehicles. The French interior ministry has announced that there were 3,980 road deaths in France between 1 November 2010 and 31 October 2011. This is the lowest number recorded since 1945.
