The iconic Dunlop bridge at Donington Park motor racing circuit in the UK has been carefully dismantled as part of preparations to get the track ready for the 2010 British Formula 1 Grand Prix. The pedestrian bridge straddled the circuit in for more than 30 years, but now it is planned to re-erect the bridge elsewhere on the revamped circuit venue (the position has to be decided). A TEAM of private companies led by Spanish toll road operator Cintra has secured its financing for the Texas, USbased mega-toll project, the North Tarrant Express. The project The US$2 billion (€1.4 billion) project will rebuild existing lanes along Interstate 820 and portions of SH 183, and add new managed lanes as well, with construction expected to begin in late 2010.

Bidding is underway for the first section of Bulgaria's Trakiya Highway. This will be followed shortly by the bidding process for the second 32km stretch of the highway which will be 32km long. The highway is due for completion by early June 2010.

Denmark is making a landmark move in the highway building sector by setting up its first public-private partnership (PPP) contract. The deal is for the construction and operation of a 26km highway linking Sønderborg and Kliplev and is worth €148 million. The 26-year contract includes building the M51 and building seven junctions and 18km of secondary roads. A major transport project could help reduce peak time congestion and improve traffic flow for New York City’s commuters. A US$300 million corridor for buses and car-poolers has been proposed for the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Key infrastructure projects look set to help revitalise Bulgaria’s economy. Concession packages for 10 infrastructure projects in the country could attract outside investment worth as much as €511.3 million.
