Discussions have been held between Brazil and Paraguay over the plans to build a new bridge between the countries. Work carried out by Construbase-Paulitec was reviewed by officials from the countries at an event held recently in Brasilia. Previous plans for work to start on the bridge had to be put on hold due to financing problems in Brazil. Construction work on the bridge looks set to recommence in August 2015 however.

OHL Mexico, a subsidiary of Spanish construction firm OHL, has confirmed it will bid for the construction and operation contract for Mexico’s La Raza-Indios Verdes-Santa Clara motorway. The 9.5km road worth around US$364 million will be let as a public-private partnership under the federal government’s National Infrastructure Programme, Mexico’s El Economista newspaper reported. Work on Vietnam’s 3.1km Phuoc Khanh cable stayed bridge will start in August after a deal was signed with the government in June. An additional €482.23 million will be allocated through outsourcing during the period. Eiffage has won a contract to restructure the Quai d’Ivry interchange on the Paris ring road. Eiffage’s Public Works division picked up the €48 million deal within Paris’s 13th arrondissement. A new highway is being planned that will boost transport connections between Kenya and South Sudan. This forms part of the East Africa Regional Transport, Trade and Development Facilitation Project linking South Sudan and Kenya. The project is expected to cost US$676 million in all. A portion of the funding will be provided by the Kenyan Government. Meanwhile a loan worth $500 million is likely to be provided by the World Bank.

Preliminary design work for the Eastern High-Speed Radius construction project in St Petersburg has been completed. The project calls for the construction of a highway and a bridge between Fayansovaya Street and Zolnaya Street. The project will require an investment of some US$2.67 billion and is expected to be funded through private financial sources. The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing a loan worth €145 million that will help fund a key highway project in Slovenia. The loan is being given to the Slovenian state highway company DARS for the project to construct a 13km section of the Drazenci to Gruskovje highway. The total cost of the project is €303.4 million. The remainder of the financing required is being provided jointly by the EU and Slovenia itself. Construction work on the project is due to commence in 2015 and continue until mid-2018
