Mecalac Group has introduced the MCR6 compact excavator, first previewed at last year’s Intermat exhibition. A combination of both compact excavator and loader in a single machine, the MCR6 joins the larger MCR8 and MCVR10 in the Mecalac line. Allu has added three new models to its range of screening buckets. The Allu DL series has been designed for excavators between 4 and 12tonnes and loaders between 2 and 8tonnes. The design of the DL series bucket’s top screen ensures that it won’t clog, even with wet materials, according to the manufacturer. The screening blades and top screens can be changed to vary the size of the end product, which is dependent on the spacing between the combs.

Terex Finlay has joined forces with German screenbox constructor Spaleck to create the 883 Spaleck 3D Combi Flip-Flow screen. A stepped top deck design, combined with flip-flow technology on the bottom deck, provides all-in-one processing capabilities for waste, recycling, shred metal, wood, compost, ores and coal.

The proportion of attendees from outside Germany was higher than before with 200,000 international visitors from 200 countries. Models brought to bauma by Soilmec included two new multipurpose hydraulic crawler cranes for heavy-duty applications. Among key features of the SC-70 and SC-90 is a design that enables easy transport and set-up on site. Engineering firm Ricardo is part way through a research programme to develop an advanced energy recovery system that can be integrated into an excavator’s hydraulic system. Known as the High Efficiency Excavator (HFX) project, the system uses a 5kg carbon fibre flywheel that is encased in a vacuum-sealed cartridge, which contributes to minimising friction.
