A 4x4 version of Mitsubishi’s Canter light truck premiered at INTERMAT on the stand of its sister company Mercedes Benz, which distributes the vehicles in Europe. The 6.5tonne GVW vehicle is fitted with a transfer box that diverts half of the torque to the front wheels at the touch of a button and can be engaged while still on the move.

Two extended reach telehandlers have been added to Genie’s range with the introduction of the 14metre reach GTH4014 and the GTH4018, which can lift loads to 18metres. The 4tonne capacity Stage IIIB-compliant machines have streamlined chassis to improve the operator’s view of the load and are said to offer best-in-class performance from a smaller footprint. Breaker specialist Montabert has increased its budget offering with a new two-speed unit and additions to its Blue Line. By restricting the speed choice to two, the new V3500 breaker (suitable for carriers from 35 to 60tonnes) is around 20% cheaper than its full-spec multi-speed counterpart while still allowing the machine operator the choice between maximum speed and maximum impact power. Terex has introduced the production version of its Twin Drive TC16 mini excavator. Equipped with both a 13kW diesel engine and an 11kW electric motor, the 1.9tonne machine can be used in confined spaces with zero exhaust emissions. A 15m cable reel is installed behind the cab, allowing the machine to travel under electric power.

Terex launched three compact excavators at INTERMAT – a micro TC10 and the reduced radius TC15 and TC19. All three have been developed in co-operation with an Italian manufacturer. The TC10, which weighs just 1 tonne, has a travel width of 760mm, allowing it to pass through a standard doorway. Hydraulically extending track frames offer a digging width of 990mm for maximum stability.

Selwood Pumps has had promising meetings at INTERMAT with potential new distributors who have visited its stand in the UK Pavilion. Exports through distributors account for 75% of the pumps that Selwood manufactures. The company is highlighting the S100, S150 and S200 Super Silent pumps, which have recently been improved by the introduction of a close-coupled configuration as part of an ongoing development programme across the entire range.

SDMO Industries is hoping its expanded line of rental compact power generators, being unveiled at INTERMAT 2012, will bring commercial success. The R275C3 and R330C3 Rental Compact models will come onto the market after the show, with the R450C3 and R550C3 available from June 2012. It will allow SDMO to offer Rental Compact machines from R16C3 up to R550C3.
