Motorists need heightened awareness as the approach and pass through work zones during the US National Work Zone Safety Week and after, according to ARTBA. Expect the unexpected in roadway construction work zones anytime, noted the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA). Paying attention to signs, maintaining safe following distances and signaling intentions are keys to preventing work zone crashes that kill and injure drivers, passengers, pedestrians and workers.

A motorway operator in Australia’s Victoria state has televised a live demonstration of automated driving along a section of one of its roads. The demonstration was along a route of the EastLink, an electronically tolled section of the M3 freeway through the eastern and south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. A consortium led by Adani Enterprises has won a US$175 million highway contract in Chhattisgarh from the National Highways Authority of India. Polish contractor Polaqua has signed a deal worth €193 million to design and build a 20km section of S6 dual carriageway. Completion is scheduled for mid-2021.
