Work is underway on a US$815 million Chilean highway project.
Construction is underway in Chilean capital Santiago for the Américo Vespucio Oriente II (AVO II) Highway. Costing around US$815 million, the project is due for completion in 2028 and is currently around 10% finished.
The route includes two tunnels that run underneath a metro line. Building the highway will help cut traffic congestion in Santiago, which can suffer long delays at peak periods.
