Trafficnow and Isbak win Istanbul contract

Trafficnow and Isbak are working together to provide 250 DeepBlue Sensors in Turkey’s commercial centre Istanbul. These units will be installed along all the major corridors and access points of the city and the deal also includes the DeepBlue Core centralised system. This award is of note and could help make a major contribution to taming Istanbul’s notoriously congested streets. dedicated busways and DeepBlue Sensors in Istanbul
Istanbul’s authorities have used a number of measures to reduce congestion such as building dedicated busways in the city and installing DeepBlue Sensors will further help reduce the incidence and severity of the city’s traffic jams
7337 Trafficnow and 2520 ISBAK are working together to provide 250 DeepBlue Sensors in Turkey’s commercial centre Istanbul. These units will be installed along all the major corridors and access points of the city and the deal also includes the DeepBlue Core centralised system. This award is of note and could help make a major contribution to taming Istanbul’s notoriously congested streets. Split between Asia and Europe, Istanbul has some 2.6 million vehicles on its road network of 25,000km as well as a population of 13 million (or perhaps more). Around 1.3 million vehicles/day cross between Istanbul’s European and Asian sides and the average journey time is around 72 minutes. The city’s authorities have taken several steps to address the congestion issues such as investing in ITS technologies, building separated bus-lanes and also planning to build a new crossing. The award of this deal follows a 30 month trial period in the city and travel time information will be published using ITS applications such as Traffic Density Map, IMM Mobile Traffic, TCC’s web site (http://tkm.ibb.gov.tr), Variable Message Signs, Signalisation and Call Centre. IMM Mobile Traffic is now said to be used by some 30,000 individuals on a daily basis while the TCC has 1 million daily hits. Isbak is a major player both in Turkey and on the international scene, for bringing the best and newest ITS technology.

With up to 10 lanes of traffic, the city authorities opted for the DeepBlue DC Sensor; a unit specially designed for side-fire multi-lane operations. The DeepBlue DC Sensor features dual channel operation and powerful antennas.
