1326 SMEC is now working on two key projects in Australia. The company has been awarded the contract administration services contract for the Horse Park Drive extension in Canberra by the Australian Capital Territory Government. It has also won the intersection upgrade project in New South Wales. The project in Canberra involves construction of the final section of Horse Park Drive from Burrumarra Avenue to Mirrabei Drive in the Gungahlin area. On completion, the road will connect the new residential areas of Jacka, Moncrieff East, Moncrieff West and Taylor to the Federal Highway in the south and the Barton Highway in the west. The work includes the construction of a 1.8km link; two threeway intersections; a 1.6km water main; a 16m by 19m bridge; 2 km of trunk cycleway; a shared services trench; street lighting; and landscaping. Meanwhile in New South Wales, SMEC has been awarded the site management contract for the Barton Highway Curve and Intersection Improvement at Murrumbateman. The upgrade to the Murrumbateman intersection will improve the curve alignment on the Barton Highway and increase road user safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists. SMEC will provide site management for the project that comprises traffic management, environmental controls, earthworks, drainage, pavement construction, sealing and asphalt, and landscaping services
