A series of major road projects will help improve Moscow’s connectivity. Russian contractor 2450 Mostotrest is to rebuild a series of road connections in Moscow, following the agreement of a deal with the Moscow Construction Department. The road building work will be on the southern section of the North-West Chord, a junction with the Skolkovo Highways and the Moscow Ring Road. Mostotrest will also construct new infrastructure and the whole package of works is worth some US$1.13 billion.
The work will be carried out close to the Skolkovo Innovation Centre in the west of Moscow and is due for completion by the end of 2016. Rebuilding of the Mozhayskoe Highway and Kutuzovsky Viaduct will commence shortly and reparation work is already underway, with the project expected to cost some $566 million. The work will take until late 2015 to complete and involves construction work along a 12.6km section of road. Included in the project is the widening of the highway, with up to four, and in some sections six, lanes running in either direction. The project also involves the rebuilding of the junction connecting the Mozhayskoe Highway and the Moscow Ring Road, as well as constructing a 2.1km long eight-lane viaduct from Petra Alekseeva Street to Govorova Street. Other portions of the project require building a 3,500m2 parking lot under the viaduct, a new 1.5km link for the Mozhayskoe Highway along the viaduct; rebuilding 7,000m2 parking lots, constructing six underground pedestrian crossings and demolishing five old crossings.
The work will also include rebuilding pedestrian ways and adjoining streets and building new cycle paths. Mostotrest is the primary contractor, while Stroygazconsulting is subcontractor.
