€1 billion for Hungary road link

€1 billion will be spent on a new road link in Hungary.

Hungary’s M6 motorway will be extended to reach the town of Mohács. This work should be complete by 2026 while a new bridge spanning the Danube River should be complete by 2028. A 19km road will connect the bridge to the existing network, costing , with the work costing an estimated €1.03 billion.

The project will be carried out by Duna Aszfalt and the bridge will be 750m in length. The new arched bridge that will span the Danube River has been designed by Gábor Pál.

Located in South Hungary, the new bridge will also provide an important international transport link as the historic town of Mohács lies close to the country’s borders with Croatia and Serbia. The opening of the bridge is intended to coincide with the 500th anniversary of the battle of Mohács.
