SANY prototype ADT heads show line-up

A prototype of SANY’s new 40 tonne SAT40 articulated dump truck (ADT) is set to be a star attraction among hauler models at bauma China 2014. Powered by a 350kW MTU engine, SANY says the model will initially be available domestically before being made available to foreign markets next year. A prototype of 1170 SANY’s new 40 tonne SAT40 articulated dump truck (ADT) is set to be a star attraction among hauler models at bauma China 2014.

Powered by a 350kW MTU engine, SANY says the model will initially be available domestically before being made available to foreign markets next year. The 45tonne model is set to be followed by 35tonne and 20tonne SANY ADTs.

Zhichun Cao, deputy general manager of SANY Group and general manager of SANY Mining Equipment, said: “This is the first ADT for us and it means a lot. We selected a 40tonne model for our first ADT as a result of our market research. In China, such a truck has the largest demand.

The SAT40 prototype has 45° articulation, a traditional rear frame, and a front frame with separate right and left side nitrogen cylinder inclusive suspension systems.

“We believe South Asia and Africa are key markets for this truck. For other regional markets, it will take time for customers to understand such a truck. I think it will be really easy to develop 35 and 20tonne trucks after we’ve finished the 40tonne model, around six to eight months to develop prototypes.”
The testing time should also be shorter for further ADT prototypes, says Cao, thanks to the hi-tech testing platform at SANY’s impressive factory in Kunshan, eastern China. The advanced system has the ability to recreate the work site stress placed on a truck’s suspension and components over a prolonged period of time.

Furthermore, Cao said that given the demanding requirements of SANY’s Chinese customers, who want highly durable equipment that can be worked 24-hoursa- day in extreme application conditions, the robustness of the new SAT40, like all SANY’s truck model range, will make it ideal for international customers.

Other exhibits from SANY, a firm that benchmarks its high standard construction, mining and quarrying machine equipment against US manufacturing giant 178 Caterpillar, include the upgraded SRT95C rigid dump truck. The SRT95C is powered by a 196 Cummins QST30-C1050 V12, turbo-charged, water-cooled electronically-controlled engine offering gross power of 783kW with Tier 2 emissions. Maximum speed is 47km/hour.

It has an Allison H8610AR transmission; flexible and automatic gear shifts; torque converter, hydraulic retarder and planetary gearing; hydraulic retarding, neutral start protection, power/economy mode shift, lifting and reverse interlocking, lifting high-speed control interlocking and lifting speed control; six forward gears, one reverse gear, and has a CAN bus design with automatic gearbox lock-up in all speed ranges. Net weight of the SRT95C is 65tonnes and its rated load is 95tonnes.

SANY says that the SRT95C offers an alternative to imports, as it is the first domestic large tonnage mining truck produced in China.
