Panama’s Ministry of Public Works (MOP) is planning to launch a series of tenders for road projects. In addition, the country is now restarting construction work on key road links, implementing measures to keep personnel safe from virus transmission.

The road and repair works being planned for tender will be carried out under the PPP model. The financial structure for the projects being tendered will be developed in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) and the World Bank (WB). Around 2,000km of roads will be improved by the works going to tender.

Meanwhile, work on 11 road projects is now restarting. These include improvements for the Panamerican Highway, between the Las Americas bridge to the Arraijan district, building of the Almirante Changuinola road, widening of the La Concepcion road and improvements for the Pedmsi-Los Asientos-Canas road.
