A new bridge is planned between the Republic of Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The bridge will span the Congo River, measure 1,575m in length and will cost in the region of US$550 million to build. The road link will feature a lane in either direction while the rail connection will feature a single line of track. Assistance for the development of the project is being provided jointly by the 1586 African Development Bank (AfDB) and Africa50. The bridge will carry both road and rail links, providing a direct connection between the capital cities of both nations, Brazzaville and Kinshasa. At present the cities are linked only by a ferry service however the new bridge will help boost trade and transport between the two nations, boosting economic development.
