The Vietnamese Government is looking to establish a development programme for the Mekong Delta Region. The plans are being set up by Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport.

The development work will run until 2030 and transport is one of the areas being prioritised. The programme will see a total network of 1,166km of expressways being in use when the programme is complete.

Key projects planned include the My Thuan Can Tho Expressway, Can Tho Ca Mau Expressway and My Thung 2 bridge. The programme has a budget of US$19.2 billion.

Other infrastructure being developed apart from transport will include potable water and irrigation.
