Upgrade work is planned for a key US-Mexico border crossing.
Upgrade work is being carried out for the important US-Mexico Otay Mesa East border crossing. Funding worth US$1.5 billion for the work is being provided by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) as part of the plan for the Infrastructure to Rebuild America works.
The crossing connects West Mexico with California and carries heavy traffic in either direction. New vehicle inspection facilities will be included in the work, which should be complete in 2024.
