Approval has been given for the project to build the sixth bridge connecting Thailand with Laos. Thailand will supply over US$80 million of the financing required to pay for the project. However further discussions will decided how the rest of the financing required will be secured for the project. Laos is looking to secure loans for the work.

Meanwhile a project to build a motorway, featuring two lanes in either direction, has also been approved in Thailand. The 139km route would connect Bung Kan and Undon Thani, while also providing access to the port at Laem Chabang. Work is expected to commence in 2021 and should take four years to complete. Another four lane road section is planned that will run through Nakhon Phanom, Nong Khai, Amnat Charoen and Mukdahan.
