The budget has been revealed for work on key highway links in the Philippines. Over US$250.4 million will be directed towards work on the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) Segment 4 Extension, and C-5 Southlink Expressway.

The budget has been set by MPT South. The CALAX project is intended to be complete by the end of 2022 and is the most costly of the three, accounting for around half of the total budget.

The new highway works are intended to improve traffic flow and reduce journey times for drivers in the area. Existing road links suffer heavy congestion, a chronic problem in Manila itself as well as the surrounding area.
