South African road construction tenders opening

South Africa is opening the tendering process for a series of road construction works. In all 12 projects are being planned for upgrades on the N2 and N3 routes, with a total value of nearly US$562 million. Seven of the tenders will be for the N3 connecting Johannesburg with Durban. The aim is to reduce congestion at peak periods and shorten journey times for drivers. The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) has plans for $2.7 billion of road improvement works to upgrade key links over coming years.
