Russia has announced plans for a massive transport infrastructure growth programme.

A budget of US$1.78 billion has been set by the Russian Government for building new highway links. The biggest of these projects will be the construction of the new M12 highway linking Moscow with Kazan and running through Nizhny Novgorod.

Other major projects include new sections for the M4 Don highway, the 51km bypass around Krasnodar and a 67km bypass around Aksaya. Work on the $266.5 million bypass around Novorossiysk will commence in 2022 and should be finished by 2023.
