Iraq’s transport infrastructure is to benefit from a series of rebuilding projects that will stretch across the country. The capital Baghdad will see 19 bridges being built, as well as roads being repaired and essential maintenance being carried out.

The budget has yet to be approve by the country’s government. Spending of US$152 billion is required to repair the country’s shattered infrastructure.

The Iraqi Government is compiling a list of approved contractors that will be considered during tendering for transport projects.

Maintenance and construction works for roads and bridges will be carried out across the country to address extensive war damage as well as years of neglect. Improved infrastructure is regarded as essential to ensure the country's future economic and political stability.
