An important flyover project is planned for Mongolia’s capital.
A feasibility study is being planned for a new flyover project in Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar. The feasibility study for the new link will be carried out in the first quarter of 2022.
Funding has yet to be finalised for the project but is expected to be supplied by a development bank. The Mongolian Government will provide the guarantee for the funding package, which will cover the construction of the new flyover.
When complete, the new flyover is intended to help improve traffic flow in the Mongolian capital, which is notorious for its heavy congestion at peak periods.
The World Bank has committed to providing funding for road safety improvements in Ulaanbaatar. This forms part of the Ulaanbaatar Sustainable Urban Transport Project, which aims to help alleviate the city’s traffic congestion and also to reduce its serious pollution problem.
Mongolia’s US$6.3 billion infrastructure development budget for 2022 will see spending being directed towards roads and transportation, as well as the construction and energy sectors. New infrastructure will be installed to help lower traffic congestion in Ulaanbaatar, while public transport will also be improved in the city.
