The Bangladeshi authorities are looking to boost investment in road maintenance and repairs. Some US$374.5 million has been identified as being required for the work. The maintenance and repair of some routes is described as critical. Transport workers have been striking in protest at the poor condition of the Dhaka-Tangail and Dhaka-Mymensingh highways.

Bangladesh bypass for capital Dhaka

In Bangladesh, planning is underway for a new bypass for capital Dhaka. The Joydevpur-Debogram-Bhulta road project will be built under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Latvian roads require maintenance and repairs to tackle poor condition

The Latvian road builders association, Latvijas Celu Buvetajs (LCB), has warned that the country’s roads require extensive maintenance and repairs. According to the LCB, the state of the country’s roads and bridges continues to decline, with some 62% of state roads and 148 bridges in poor condition.
