A design contract for the 43km Fagaras-Brasov section of the 130km-long Brasov-Sibiu motorway was signed last summer.
Work on Romania’s Fagaras-Brasov stretch of the 130km-long Brasov-Sibiu motorway is expected to start early this year.
Last summer the Romanian Government’s road construction and management company CNAIR signed a design contract for the 43km Fagaras-Brasov section of the much-delayed motorway. Catalin Drula, transport minister, noted at the time the Fagaras-Brasov section of the A3 Transylvania Highway was put up for auction this spring, after being abandoned for 10 years.
The entire Brasov-Sibiu motorway is estimated to have cost around €1.47 (US$1.7 billion). Construction of the Sibiu-Fagaras stretch of the Brasov-Sibiu motorway is reportedly to be in advanced stages.
