Taiwan’s poor road safety record is a cause for serious concern. The country has a bad record on road safety according to the latest official figures. Data from Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications shows that between January 2023 and April 2023, 1,039 people were killed in road crashes. In addition, 179,930 people suffered injuries in the 133,972 road crashes recorded during this period.

Taiching has the worst record in Taiwan for road safety according to the data.

Exactly what measures the Taiwan Government will take to reduce the current death toll on the road network have yet to be seen. Some areas do have a poor record for DUI and tougher enforcement may be one factor that will yield results.
