A 15km stretch of Interstate 64 in the US state of Virginia will be upgraded, allowing it to handle more traffic. The work is expected to cost US$3.46 billion and will be carried out by a consortium headed by the Spanish contractor 917 ACS. Intended to reduce congestion and delays on the existing route between the towns of Hampton and Norfolk, the work entails adding more lanes in either direction as well as building tunnel stretches and new viaducts. The consortium also includes 4761 Dragados US, 2758 Flatiron and 5177 Vinci Grands Projects.
